FAQ

Here are some frequently asked questions about how we treat at Red Earth Acupuncture.

What kind of people use our services?

People who are ready to end a cycle of pain and alleviate symptoms naturally without unnecessary pharmaceuticals or surgery, or they want to improve your quality of life and live more vibrantly.

I've tried everything, even other acupuncture or dry needling, but nothing has worked. Can you help?

We understand your frustration. But the truth is, most people haven’t tried everything. They’ve just tried what they know. We spcialize in difficult to treat conditions where other modalities and clinics have not been able to get to the root of the problem.

How soon will you feel better?

That depends on 1) our specific symptoms and 2) how long you’ve had those symptoms.

For example, out of 10 people who all report having back pain, each person may be experiencing that pain for entirely different
reasons. So, even though your pain may be the same as 10 other people, your symptoms are unique to you…and so is your path to
healing.

What we aim for, is to see a reduction in pain at each visit.

If you are experiencing acute back pain, you may receive immediate relief of the acute pain but may need further treatments to account for the underlying factors which led to the acute flair up. After the first couple of treatments, your practitioner will have a good understanding of your condition and will give you a reasonable idea of how many treatments you will need.

Why is your treatment schedule different than other clinic?

We treat to independence. This means that we always strive to treat just enough by making sure that we only treat as little as possible to restore your ability to heal.  As your body remembers and is able to be more independent and your functionality is restored, you need us less and less.

What will my treatment process look like?

Phase One:

When you first start in our clinic you will need more intensive treatment, usually once a week.

During Phase One we uncover the answer to 2 important questions;

1.     Is this treatable?
2.     Can we get a clinically relevant result?

In this phase the restorative process kick in. Your body begins to reconnect to its innate ability to heal. Phase One ends when the body is no longer in free fall or out of control.

Phase Two:

Phase Two begins when you are moving back toward health. During this time, you'll visit the clinic every two weeks, then every three and so on until you are only receiving treatment every 6 weeks.

During Phase Two we will seek to answer: How long can I go between treatments and still feel improvement?

Phase Two ends when you see improvement for  6 weeks with not treatment.

Phase Three:

In Phase Three you set the path. You call us and come in when you need our help.

The goal in every phase is to get you to the point where you don't need our help. We want you to feel better. And we know that your body is capable of doing it.

Is acupuncture covered by insurance?

The good news is yes, more insurance plans are covering acupuncture than ever before. And not just acupuncture, but
also related services performed by an acupuncturist. So then the bigger question is - -

Does your plan provide coverage?

We understand that sometimes insurance can be complex, so we’re here to help you figure it out. If you would like help determining if your insurance plan provides acupuncture benefits just give us a call.

However, if you prefer to find out for yourself, simply call your insurance company's patient information or benefits number found on your insurance card. We’ve provided a few basic questions you can ask to determine your eligibility and coverage:
1. How many treatments are covered annually?
2. How much does the insurance company pay for each treatment?
3. Will you need a referral from an MD to see an acupuncturist?
4. What conditions are covered for acupuncture?
After you know what your plan covers, the next thing you need to know is - -

How is your coverage processed?

We do not directly process claims. We provide a Superbill. A Superbill is a detailed receipt with medical coding recognized by all health care providers for creating claims.

 Here’s how it works:

1.     After each treatment we provide you a Superbill for that service.

2.     You submit your Superbill to your insurance company for processing.

3.     Your insurance company directly reimburses you for any services covered by your plan.

You may also choose to use your HSA or FSA cards to pay for your care. If you’re like most people you’ve paid a lot for your health insurance.

We want to ensure that you get the most out of your insurance plan by keeping your costs manageable and getting your health back.
