
Wintery cold weather can make us vulnerable to viruses and infections. Listen to your body to you can act fast and fight off disease.
The following symptoms may indicate your immune system is working overtime.
• Tight nape and neck that can cause headache
• Raised body temperature, including fever
• Aversion to windy conditions, like a blowing heater or air conditioner vent
• Irritability
If you feel these symptoms, do the following.
- Take a hot bath (hot to the point where you will start sweating within five minutes),
- Get out and dry off
- Put on warm pajamas
- Go to sleep under as many sheets as you can tolerate
If your body can manage to sweat, it means your immune system is healthy and you can fight off the infection.

There’s an easy way to see if your immune system is in equilibrium.
Reach around with your hand and feel the area around your big vertebra (that’s C7) right where your neck and shoulders meet.
If it’s cold, cover it up and allow it to warm up. This is especially important if you’re outside in cold weather or wind.
Keep the area covered and warm to prevent your immune system from going offline.
